Earth Day Ladybug Event

Chemical pesticides are a significant source of environmental contamination. Misuse of chemicals can lead to waterway and soil contamination making it important for growers to carefully look at how they manage pests. A natural alternative to chemical pesticides are predatory insects: the ladybug being the most visible and best known of these insects as they can eat up to 50 pests a day and consistently move to areas where prey is abundant. The Coalition held an event on Earth Day this year to spread awareness of chemical pesticide alternatives in farming.

The Debate: Real vs. Fake Christmas Trees

The Coalition of Environmentally Conscious Growers stands by its belief that cut Christmas trees as better for the environment than artificial alternatives and part of its mission is to spread this message to consumers. Real trees are renewable, sustainable, recyclable, and grown on farms in fields and cut from forests. For every tree that is cut from a Christmas tree farm, one is planted in it’s place.
